Amjadieh Apartment, Tehran
This project was for the full refurbishment of an apartment in a 70s (post-)?Modernist block located in central Tehran . Situated close to the old US Embassy and the Amjadieh Sport Centre, it is part of a popular and appealing neighbourhood.
The apartment had very tired and dated interiors, showing clear signs of unplanned and unconventional refurbishment works. Existing spaces were not well proportioned and without any flow or connection. A new plan was proposed to fit with the modern way of living, and to accommodate a growing family. The project was particularly challenging due to changes to kitchen and bathroom layout in a block of flats with stacked services. For Studio_NS it was an interesting experience to learn the local regulations and get used to new ways of communication with the neighbours.
Despite the extensive changes to the apartment interior, working closely with the local contractor, Studio_NS were able to meet the main requirement for a short design and construction period.
Studio_NS grasped our main concern for the length of the project. Both my partner and I work fulltime, and our son is at that age where he needs space of his own. We were not fully aware of what we exactly needed and the professional guidance we received from the architects is much more than what I originally anticipated. Studio_NimaSardar set a clear route for us and produced a drawing package that was comfortable for the contractors to read and follow. We couldn’t do this without Studio_NimaSardar.
